Bewley Properties, Inc. is a diverse corporation with its primary focus in contract warehousing, office complex and shopping center property management,commercial real estate brokerage, and commercial real estate development. BPI conducts business primarily in the upper East Tennessee area, including in the counties of Greene, Washington, Sullivan, Cocke, and Hamblen. Bewley Properties, Inc. also has a focus in the automobile industry, with dealerships in Greeneville, Morristown and Bristol, Tennessee.

Bewley Properties, Inc. started in 1980, by James Kent Bewley, with the founding of Bewley Oldsmobile-Subaru, Inc. At the time, the company also had a focus in the tobacco warehousing industry. After the peak of the tobacco industry in the East Tennessee area, Mr. Bewley and his father, Roswell R. Bewley converted the use of the warehouses to contract storage, rental, and product handling.

Meet The Staff

Kent Bewley, President

Kent Bewley is President and CEO of Bewley Properties, Inc. and believes that good employees and diversification have always been the key strengths for the business he founded 27 years ago. The company is involved in real estate development, property management and the automobile business, as well as contract and commercial warehousing. The son of the late Roswell and Eugenia Bewley, he built upon the base created by his father in the car business and tobacco warehousing business and expanded the business into its current five-county (Greene, Hamblen, Cocke, and Sullivan Counties in Tennessee operation. Bewley graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. He entered the United States Army upon graduation from UT and spent 10 years in the Army Reserve, retiring as a captain.

In addition to Bewley Properties, Bewley is also President of Morristown Chevrolet-Buick, Inc.; President of Toyota of Bristol; Founder of Heritage Community Bank; and a partner in Bewley Warehouses and Towne Square Shopping Center.

Bewley's community and civic involvements are as diverse as his business interests. He is Chairman of the Tri-Cities Regional Board for Junior Achievement, a board member of Junior Achievement of Greeneville/Greene County and a classroom volunteer at Greeneville High School. He is a board member of the East Tennessee State University Foundation, a member of the Board of Trustees of Link Hills Country Club, Holston Home for Children, and the Greene County Foundation.  Bewley is a member of the Tennessee Motor Vehicle Commission. He is past Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Holston United Methodist Home for Children and was honored as the 2003 National Trustee of the Year by the nationwide United Methodist Association of Health and Welfare Ministries and was inducted in 2009 into the Hall of Fame in Philanthropy for hte United Methodist Association.



Kandice D. Bewley, Vice-President

Kandice Bewley has been with Bewley Properties, Inc. since May 2002. Kandice's main roles in the company are as a Developer and Construction Manager of commercial projects, and as Property Manager and Leasing Agent of four retail complexes, two office complexes and a 140,000 square foot retail shopping center. Kandice is currently in charge of development of Bewley Properties' Towne Crossing development and was most recently in charge of construction of an 8 screen movie theater (Phoenix Theatre's Towne Crossing 8) and a new automobile dealership for Gateway Ford Lincoln-Mercury, all facilities in Greeneville, TN. In addition, Kandice is a partner in B.A.K. Management, LLC in Newport, Tennessee and is the Principal Real Estate Broker for Bewley Properties.

Kandice graduated in 2001 from the University of Tennessee College of Law with her Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.) degree and in 1997 from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business/Marketing. She previously worked for Senator Fred Thompson in Washington, D.C in 2001-2002 and as a law clerk for the law firms of Hodges, Doughty and Carson, PLLC and Long, Ragsdale & Waters, PLLC in Knoxville, Tennessee from 1998-2001.

Kandice serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Heritage Community Bank in Greeneville, Tennessee, and as a Board Member for Junior Achievement of East Tennessee Advisory Board, the Junior League of Knoxville and the University of Tennessee Alumni Band Board, all in Knoxville, Tennessee.



Brenda R. West, Secretary/Treasurer

Brenda West has been with Bewley Properties, Inc. since its establishment in 1980 and her duties include Office Manager, Chief Financial Officer and Human Resources.  She graduated from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting/Business Administration.  Brenda has completed post-graduate studies in accounting at ETSU, Certified Leadership Training, Subaru Dealer Business Management Courses, and earned membership in the Oldsmobile Business Management Club and the Subaru STAR (Subaru Top Achievement Recognition) Club.

Her leadership ability is also shown by her involvement and achievements as an active member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha International.  Brenda is a Past ESA International Council President and has held many offices, served as chairman of various projects, and received numerous awards in this organization due to her leadership and organizational skills.



Bobby Payne, Vice President and General Warehouse Manager

Bobby Payne joined Bewley Properties, Inc. in 1994.  He serves as General Warehouse Manager and oversees all contract and commercial warehousing for the company; working with clients to assist them in meeting their delivery goals and business objectives.  With 40 years experience in warehousing and distribution, Bobby can respond to any questions you might have regarding our warehouse services and facilities.
